June Goals

Happy June! I just can’t quite believe that it is already June. Like, what happened to the whole first half of this year? I feel like May, especially, flew by so quick I wasn’t even part of it. But here we are, in June. Now the weather just needs to start acting like it…

So May goals went pretty well! I didn’t grow my insta following by 100 people or re-do my dresser or volunteer or try a new coffee place … wait. What was I saying? Whatever, May was busy and it’s in the past now. Time to start over fresh with some new goals (that I probs won’t stick to) for June πŸ™‚

Get a new theme

I need to do this. I’m still trying to figure out this whole “building a website” thing, so I’m giving myself a little time to learn it all. But something I need to do ASAP to help build my blog (along with the 10000 others things) is to get a better theme. I’ve been looking a little here and there, but this is the month that I’ll either find one I love or have someone create one that I love and implement it on the blog. I love clean lines and light colors with a super simple overall appearance, so any suggestions are appreciated!

Speaking of getting better and putting a little more effort into the blog, I am going to take an online class to learn more about blogging. I literally know nothing. I never really took any computer science classes besides the core ones in college, and I went to school for event planning, so when I started this, I had no clue what I was doing. And I still don’t. But I feel like I know a lot of the things that I don’t know, so I have a platform to start asking questions and things to do research on. Hopefully, an online course will help me build some skills so I can grow lily and a rose.

I try to actively keep a healthy mind. I’m not one to get overly stressed or down about much, but I still feel like keeping track of the things I am grateful for is a great way to create a healthy habit for the rest of my life. Everyone goes through tough times and feels a little blue now and then, so to have something that you can physically look back on that lists out all the good things in your life is a really beautiful thing.

In addition to trying to keep a healthy mind, I’m also trying to find things that keep my body healthy that I don’t totally hate (running, going to the gym, group exercise classes, etc). BTW, those are all things I hate. Because I hate working out. But I’ve heard it’s important, so I guess I have to do it. I’ve done squat challenges in the past and I always really love the results. And I don’t hate squats. Not the same way I hate running. So, I’m going to give it a whirl. Maybe I’ll do a before and after to keep me accountable.

give my hair a break.png

One of these days, I am going to do a full hair breakdown for you guys. I put my poor hair through a lot. All the bleach and heat wreak havoc, and I do my best to limit the heat I put on it, but because of all the bleach, I need heat to tame it. It’s honestly just a real catch 22 situation. But this month I am seriously going to give the old goldie locks a break. I’ve been squirreling away a bunch of different hydrating products and this is the month that I’m going to try them all. Hopefully by July, my hair will feel and look a little stronger and silkier.

eat more veggies.png

I don’t think I really said much about it, but for an entire month I was on a no carb diet. I didn’t eat any grains or fruit or alcohol – nothing. I felt great and def lost a few lbs, but it just wasn’t a realistic way to live. So now I’m back on carbs. But I want to incorporate more vegetables into my diet. This obvs means meal prepping, which I hate, but I really did feel sooo much better when I was eating clean. My goal for now is to eat at least 2-3 servings of vegetables a day, every single day. A little ambitious knowing me, but I go big or go home.

read 2 books.png

My first book this month isΒ Into The Water by Paula Hawkins. She’s the one who wroteΒ The Girl on the Train, which I loved. This one has okay reviews, but I like a good thriller no matter what, so I’ll let you all know if it’s worth the read! The next book on my list isΒ The Shack by William P. Young. I saw the movie, and while it wasn’t what I expected it to be, I really liked the story. I’m a book girl, so I always tend to like the book more than the movie anyways, so I’m really excited for this read.

Enjoy your June, lovelies, and let me know your goals for this month!

With love & lilies,

Lauren

  1. Love your goals! Most of these goals are mine too! This month I’m doing the push-up challenge which I’m enjoying so far. I was thinking of doing another exercise challenge next month so thanks for the inspo as I’ll be doing the squat challenge next month! Many Blessings, Grace
